実際のところ、「モノポリー」は抽象的なゲームであり、何も具体的なものをシミュレートしているわけではないのだ。しかし、このゲームでは、わざと不動産業の雰囲気を出すために、土地の名前、家やホテルの形をしたプラスチックのコマ、紙幣といったものを小道具として使っている。そして、これこそが「モノポリー」を魅力的にしている要素なのである。
